General Description
The Area Marketing Representative (“AMR”) is responsible for originating grain and promoting the total business of Great Northern Grain (grain, crop, inputs, services). The AMR will serve existing customers and develop new customers concentrating on farm calls. The AMR is responsible for executing his/her element of the GNG grain origination plan.
Principle Accountability
- With the manager, marketing and operations develops the grain origination strategy and the originator will
be responsible for executing a portion of the plan. This requires targeting customers, visiting and communicating with farmers to buy grain. Communicates bids, GNG services and promotes grain contracts to forward buy grain to meet program requirements. Probes bins to determine quality.
- Communicates regularly with the manager, marketing and operations regarding bids, basis, premiums and competitive situation. Communicates regularly with the terminal staff to advice on grain quality and grain availability for delivery and shipments.
- Ensures logistical details are communicated to the Terminal Manager and staff for the grain moving from the farm. Ensures trucking services meet GNG standards for commercially hauled grains.
- As a member of the GNG marketing team, help to develop grain marketing knowledge among GNG staff and producers. Make presentations, one on one coaching, explains and promote GNG contracts and services at every opportunity.
- Develops relationships with area crop input dealers to assist them in business development and strengthen the relationship between GNG and the crop input dealers.
- Contributes to the Marketing and logistics annual and long range plans and budgets.
- Administer grain contracts ensuring that all contracts are properly signed and that contract requirements are met.
- Builds the GNG customer database by inputting data into PC based system, shared with the GNGT system.
